Located on the outskirts of Milan, Chemisol’s headquarters cover an area of 260,000 square meters within the former historic Montedison Group site.
In 2021, the company expanded its operations with a production unit in the Alto Milanese area, dedicated to innovative chemical specialties.
A century of history inspires our future. The chemical business in Castellanza was founded in 1901. Over the years, it became part of Montedison, then of the Austrian chemical group OMV, and later of Borealis. From this legacy we have inherited the know-how and expertise that keep on driving Chemisol today.
Today, Chemisol is proudly Italian-owned: since 2009 the company has been leading its own path, shaping its present and building a future rich in projects and innovation.

1901
Montecatini founds a chemical company producing basic chemicals.
1928
A plant dedicated to the production of liquid and powdered phenolic resins is installed at the chemical site.
1966 – 1990
In these years Montedison is the most important chemical company in Italy. The product range includes melamine powder resins, MUF and urea powder resins.
1990
Agrolinz (AT) acquires the Castellanza chemical site and business which marks the beginning of Agrolinz Melamine International Italia srl (AMI-I).
2007
AMI becomes part of Boralis Group expanding its sales network worldwide.
2009
A partnership of Italian entrepreneurs acquires both site and business from the Borealis Group: Chemisol Italia srl is born.
2021
Chemisol expands with a new production unit dedicated to liquid chemical specialties located north of Milan.
